TM 9-2320-360-34-1 NOTE Tires  must  be  marked  on  lug  (high spot) of tire tread. (12) Scribe  line  around  tires  (3)  on  axle  no.  1 (2)  and  axle  no.  4  (5)  by  securely  holding punch  on  tire  tread  (9)  while  rotating  tire (3) by hand. NOTE Tires    must    not    be    rotated    while performing steps (13) thru (15). (13) Measure  and  mark  four  tires  (3)  on  scribe lines  made  in  step  (12),  18-20  in.  (46-51 cm)   above   ground   at   front   and   rear   of each tire (3). (14) Measure  and   record   distance   A   at   front and  rear  of  front  tires  (3),  between  scribe lines  at  marks  made  in  step  (13)  with  aid of assistant. (15) Measure   and   record   distance   A   at   front and  rear  of  rear  tires  (3),  between  scribe lines  at  marks  made  in  step  (13)  with  aid of assistant. NOTE Preferred   distance   between   tires   is 1/16   in.   (1.6   mm)   less   across   front than across rear. Acceptable difference is from 0-1/4 in. (0-6.4 mm) less across front than across rear. (16) Compare front and rear distances measured  between  tires  (3)  on  axle  no.  1 (2) and axle no. 4 (5). 13-41
