flat rate manual or the Government's actual cost, WHICHEVER IS LESS.
d.
If you disagree or if a dispute arises, prepare and forward a DA Form 2407 to the address
For each item obtained from AM General, follow the action stated in Section IV, Para-
e.
f .  In making your own repairs, you may be required to return the defective part(s) to AM
General per their instructions. If so, drain the defective part(s), if applicable, and tag with DA Form
2402, in accordance with TM 38-750. Clean, wrap and securely package the part(s) to prevent further
damage. This is important since AM General will examine the returned part(s) to determine if there
is a warranted defect. Return the part(s) with a duplicate copy of the prepared DA Form 2407 to:
Warranty Administration
AM General Corporation
408 Eckman Street, Dock 8-5
South Bend, IN 46680
AM General will bear the transportation cost of shipping the defective part(s) from the U. S. Port of
embarkation. All shipments will be via surface freight. It is equally important that the defective part(s)
be adequately protected while awaiting disposition instructions. For example, do not leave an engine
in the open, exposed to weather. Inadequate protection can jeopardize the Government's warranty
claim. Placing an engine on boards and covering it with canvas could provide simple but needed pro-
tection so that AM General can readily inspect it to validate the claim. Do not dispose of the defective
part(s) unless specifically instructed to do so by AM General or TACOM. DO NOT RETURN THE
DEFECTIVE PART(S) TO AM GENERAL UNLESS SPECIFICALLY INSTRUCTED TO DO SO BY
AM GENERAL.
Vehicle transportation cost to and from Warranty Repair Facility will be borne by the user.
Section VI. SAFETY RECALL AND FIELD CAMPAIGN

summary of the procedural steps is outlined for reference, once initial determination is made that a
safety problem exists.
1.  Once it has been determined by the AM General Safety Committee that the problem is safety
related, it is the responsibility of AM General's Safety Administration to furnish a defect information
report to the Office of Compliance, NHTSA, for each defect information report to the Office of
Compliance, NHTSA, for each defect in AM General Corporation's M915A1 vehicle. At the same
time, AM General will provide notification to:
Commander
US Army Tank-Automotive Command
ATTN: DRSTA-CZ (Safety Recall)
Warren, MI 48090
2. This report and/or notitication will contain, at a minimum, the following:
-  Total number of vehicles potentially affected
Estimated percentage of vehicles that may contain defect
-
- Description of defect
-  Statement of measures to be taken to repair the defect, including inspection and instal-
lation instructions.
