5. DEPOT STORAGE. If the Government, prior to placing vehicles in service, elects to place quanti-
ties of such newly delivered vehicles in Government depot storage, AM General agrees that the time
period of the warranty will not begin to run for such stored vehicles until each vehicle is withdrawn
from Government storage or until nine months from date of acceptance, whichever occurs first. The
Government, prior to placing each new vehicle in storage and again at time of its withdrawal, shall
notify AM General thereof and identify each vehicle and its time in and out of storage. Vehicles
designated as Production Samples shall be treated as vehicles placed in storage for warranty purposes.
Section Ill. SERVICE/WARRANTY PROCEDURES - M915A1 TRUCKS
1. AM General Corporation's warranty procedures are outlined herein as follows: If a warranty
problem occurs, the Direct Support/General Support Unit will determine how repairs may best be
accomplished by use of one of the following procedures.
a. Warranty repairs shall be performed at AM General/Crane Carrier Corporation distributors
and/or dealers. The Direct Support/General Support Unit may, at its discretion and in the interest of
returning a vehicle to service immediately, elect to perform warrantyeligible repairs on its own repair
facility and submit a claim for warranty reimbursement by completeing the forms described in Section
b. In areas where AM General/Crane Carrier Corporation does not have distributor/dealer
representation, availability or the capacity to perform warranty-eligible repairs, AM General will
establish firm contract arrangements with a local heavy truck service facility to accomplish repairs
under warranty as may be required. The servicing facility will prepare and submit all required docu-
mentation to AM General for warranty reimbursement.
c. In areas where no distributor/dealers are present and no firm contract arrangements with
local heavy truck service facilities exist (e.g. Korea), repairs will be made at the appropriate Direct
Support/General Support Unit and a claim for reimbursement, as desribed in Section VII, will be
submitted.
d. Where vehicles are located within a reasonable distance of distributors and/or dealers
servicing major component product lines, use of these distributor/dealer service outlets will augment
service facilities. AM General Corporation has service agreements with the major vehicle component
suppliers and by means of service bulletins, these respective suppliers' distributor/dealer networks
will be alerted to the existence of the AM General M915A1 trucks in the heavy truck population.
e. Charges for labor performed by the Government will be borne by AM General, based
on the prevailing hourly rate for such services and the number of hours appearing in AM General's
flat rate schedule or the Government's actual cost, whichever is less. Reimbursement will be in the
form of a check payable to the Treasurer of the United States, issued to the reporting agency.
f. With respect to defective supplies, the warranty shall include replacement of the failed
part or components in kind by AM General without cost to the Government.
g. After arrangements have been made with distributors, dealers, and service facilities, the
local Transportation and/or Maintenance Officer, as well as a TACOM representative, will review all
aspects of the service facility arrangement and assure that these procedures are thoroughly defined and
understood by all parties involved.
h. In the event of an unusual or questionable failure of an assembly or component part,
assistance can be obtained by contacting the AM General Service Department by telephone, (219)
237-6372/6366/6374. The Service Department will contact the area Field Service Representative
