a. Removal
(1) Remove five locknuts (1), screws (2),
cushion clips (3), and six hoses (4) from
axle housing (5). Discard locknuts.
WARNING
Axle weighs 2160 lb (981 kg). Use
caution when lifting or moving axle.
Failure to do so may result in serious
injury or death to personnel.
(2) Attach suitable lifting device to axle
housing (5) and install in axle stand with
aid of assistant.
(3) Unstake nut (6) on output yoke (7).
(4) Position yoke holder (8) on yoke (7).
(5) Remove nut (6) and output yoke (7) from
output housing (9) using socket (9.1) with
aid of assistant. Discard nut.
