CYLINDER HEAD REPAIR (CONT)
WARNING
Cylinder  head  will  be  hot
e n o u g h to burn you on contact.
Wear heat-resistant gloves
when  handling  hot  cylinder
head.
HEAT cylinder HEAD (2) to 212F (100C)

and COOL valve SEATS-in liquid nitrogen for
5 minutes.
WARNING
Do not touch liquid nitrogen or
valve seats with bare hands.
S e v e r e frostbite will result.
11.
CAREFULLY REMOVE valve SEATS (6) from
c o o l a n t and QUICKLY INSTALL them in
heated cylinder head (2).
12. USING INSTALLATION TOOL, TAP valve
SEATS (6) into cylinder head (2).
13. USING 90-degree REAMER or GRINDSTONE
with correct size pilot shaft, REFACE intake
and exhaust valve seat COUNTERBORES (5).
REMOVE ONLY ENOUGH material to obtain
smooth seat.
1 4 . USING TABLE on page 13-10, CHECK
WIDTH of each valve seat COUNTERBORE
(5).
