CRANE GEAR BEARING REPLACEMENT (CONT)
REMOVE CAPS or PLUGS from valve body
8.
(9) and hydraulic hoses (10). CONNECT 16
hydraulic HOSES (10).
INSTALL COVER (11), four new lock washers

(12), and four capscrews (13).
NOTE
Follow-on Maintenance:
Start vehicle and purge air from hydraulic

system.
Attach crane to load equal to maximum rated
2.
load for crane.
3.
Lift full rated load and swing load completely
around in both directions. Actuate controls
v e r y slowly and keep load as close as
possible to ground. Set load down.
4.
Place crane in three-point stance (TM 5-2420-
224-20).
Shut down vehicle.
5.
WARNING
A f t e r swinging full rated load,
all  gear  bearing  mounting
c a p s c r e w s must be checked to
ensure that capscrews were
tightened properly. Failure to
perform this check can result in
crane failure and/or serious
personnel injury or death.
6.
Check tightness of all capscrews. Tighten
again, if necessary.
