Two hoses (2 and 3)
Using 7/8-inch and 1-inch open-end
adapters (1)
wrenches, tighten.
56.
Loader backhoe
Transmission
Check fluid level and add proper amount
and grade (TM 5-2420-222-10).
Do not shut down engine at this time.
57.
Backhoe boom
Have assistant operate to pressurize boom
control lever
cylinder inlet and outlet lines
(TM 5-2420-222-10).
58.
Two union
Two hoses (2 and 3)

Check for leaks.
adapters (1)
b.
If leaking, tighten using 7/8-inch and
1-inch open-end wrenches.
c.
If leaking does not stop, shut down
engine (TM 5-2420-222-10) and
replace leaking parts
(TM 5-2420-222-20).
d.
If leaks were found, repeat step 56.

Loader backhoe
Engine
If running, shut down
(TM 5-2420-222-10).
ADJUSTMENT
NOTE
Power digging position is used for digging in hard ground when maximum bucket power is needed.
Truck loading position is used for loading trucks with high sides. This position allows bucket to retract
to its maximum angle. Do not use hydraulic impactor with bucket in this position.
Vertical wall position is used when vertical walls are required while digging. This position allows
bucket to open to its maximum angle.
Some loader backhoes have linkage pins retained by cotter pins, some have pins retained by retaining
rings. For loader backhoes equipped with retaining rings, skip steps 60 and 61.
