TM 5-2420-222-20-2 FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS AND HUBS - CONTINUED ACTION LOCATION ITEM REMARKS ASSEMBLY - CONTINUED NOTE Some loader backhoes are equipped with seal cup, some are not.   Step 28 only applies to loader backhoes equipped with seal cup. 28. Inner bearing (1) Seal cup (2) a. Lubricate with grease. b. Place in position. INSTALLATION 29. Wheel spindle (3) New plain seal (4) Place in position. 30. Inner bearing (1) a. Pack with grease (TM 9-214). with assembled seal b. Place in position. cup (2) if present 31. Wheel spindle (3) Hub (5 or 6) with Place in position. and inner assembled parts bearing (1) 32. Wheel spindle (3) Outer bearing (8) a. Pack with grease (TM 9-214). and outer cup (7) b. Place in position. 33. Wheel spindle (3) Special washer (9) Screw on and tighten until snug using and outer and slotted 1 1/2-inch, 3/4-inch drive socket and bearing(8) nut (10) ratchet handle. NOTE Only perform the following at location where maintenance is being performed. 34. Loader backhoe Front tire and wheel Install (page 2-899). Assembly Leave loader backhoe up on 5-ton capacity motor vehicle trestles.   Do not tighten hub bolts to specified torque at this time. ADJUSTMENT NOTE Steps 35 thru 40 only apply when adjustment is only part of task performed. 2-920
