TM9-2320-360-20-3 Section  4 TROUBLESHOOTING CHARTS E.   FLASH   CODE: 57 J1587   CODE: S249 12 - J 1922 DATA  LINK  FAULT NOTE - This chart is only to be used if: 1)  All  basic  mechanical  checks  and  physical  inspections  have  been  performed  with  no  problem  found,  and 2) Diagnosis of DDEC-III was started at step START-1, pg H-25 and you have now been referred here. STEP/SEQUENCE 57-1 Multiple code check l Were  there  any codes  beside  249/12? RESULT I WHAT  TO  DO  NEXT Yes. No. 57-2 Check  for  open l Turn  ignition  off. l Unplug  the  6-pin communications connector. Greater  than 5 ohms. l Place  a  jumper  wire Less than across  pins. 5  ohms. A (#800) and B (#801) l Locate other ends of wire #800 and #801.   Measure   resistance between   wires. 57-3 Check for short l Remove  jumper  wire. l Read  resistance  between pin  A  (#800)  and  B  (#801)  of  the communications    connector. Less  than  5  ohms. The  two  data  wires  are shorted  together  repair  short and  go  to  57-30. Greater  than  5  ohms. 57-30   Verify   repairs l Turn  ignition  off. l Reconnect   all   connections. l Turn  ignition  on. l Clear  codes. l Start  and  run  engine (TM  9-2320-360-10)  for  1  minute. l Note  status  of “Check  Engine”  light. l Check  for  codes. No  codes Codes  appears. Service  other  codes first. Go to 57-2. One or both data lines are open. Repair  open. Go to 57-30. Go  to  57-3. Replace  ECM  (7-29.1).  Then  go to  57-30. Repairs  are  complete. Go  to  START-1,  pg  H-25. All  diagnostics  are  complete. Review  to  find  the  error. H-229
