TM  9-2320-356-BD 3. Measure   inside   distance   between   front   tires   with   a   tape   measure,   string,   or piece   of   wood   as   follows: a. Place   front   wheels   in   straight-ahead   position. b. Measure   the   distance   from   the   center   of   the   front   hub   to   the   ground. c. Mark   the   inner   tire   side   walls   the   same   distance   as   measured   in   step   b   on the   front   and   the   rear   of   the   tires. d. Measure   and   record   distance   between   marks. The   front   measurement   should   be 1/4   inch   shorter   than   the   rear. e. Adjust   tie   rod   ends   and   repeat   step   d   and   e   until   properly   alined. 4. Record   the   BDAR   action   taken. When   mission   is   completed,   as   soon   as practicable,   repair   using   standard   maintenance   procedures. 12-6.  STEERING  COLUMN  DAMAGE General    Information: Repair   can   be   accomplished   by   using   replacement   parts.   An   alternate   source   of supply   for   steering   columns   is   foreign-owned   equipment   (see   appendix   C).   Record the   BDAR   action,   taken. When   mission   is   completed,   as   soon   as   practicable,   repair using   standard   maintenance   procedures. 12-4
