LINKAGE General    Information: If   the   gear-shifting   control   linkages   are   damaged,    emergency    transmission    range selection   can   be   performed   under   the   vehicle. Limitations: o   Degraded   mobility Personnel/Time   Required: o   2   soldiers o   5   to   I0   minutes Procedural   Steps: Option   1: Manual   Shift   from   Under   Vehicle. 1. Remove   damaged   linkage. Materials/Tools: o   Vise   grips o   Cutting   torch 2. Move   shift   arm   to   the   neutral   or   park   position   so   the   vehicle   can   be   started. 3. One   soldier   starts   the   vehicle   and   keeps   the   brakes   engaged   while   another soldier   crawls   under   the   vehicle   and   moves   shift   arm   into   gear   position. A f t er determining   gear   positions,    select   proper   gear   and   remove   vise   grips. 4. Record   the   BDAR   action   taken. When   the   mission   is   completed,   as   soon   as practicable,    repair   using   standard   maintenance   procedures. 9-6
