As the gear cover (17) is lowered onto the differential carrier (19), make certain the input shaft aligns with

the bore through the interaxle differential; continue to lower the cover onto the carrier. As the input shaft

enters the interaxle differential, it may be necessary to index the shaft through the splines of the spider

(cross).

With the gear cover (17) in position on the differential carrier (19), assemble the gear cover-to-carrier with

12 capscrews (21) and washers (20). Torque capscrews to 85-115 lb-ft (115-156 Nm).
