(6) Check all gasket mating surfaces, flanges on housings, and supports for
warpaqe with a straightedge or surface plate.  Inspect mating flanges for
discolorations that may indicate persistent oil leakage
(7) Check all castings for conformance to applicable repair standards.

Bearings.  Refer to TM9-214 for inspection of bearings. Check all bearings
for conformance to applicable repair standards.

Studs, Bolts, and Screws.
Replace if missing, threads are damaged, bent,
loose or stretched.

NOTE
When gear teeth wear limits are not established, good
judgement is required to determine if gear replacement
is necessary.
(1) Inspect all gears for cracks using a magnifying glass and strong light.
No cracks are permissible.
(2) Inspect gear teeth for wear, sharp fins, burrs, and galled or pitted
surfaces.
(3) Check keyway slots for wear or damage.

Bushings and Bushing Type Bearings.
(1) Check all bushings and bushing type bearings for secure fit, evidence of
overheating, wear, burrs, nicks and out-of-round condition.  Replace as
necessary.
(2) Check for dirt in lubrication holes or grooves. Holes and grooves must
be clean and free from damage.

Oil Seals.
Oil seals are mandatory replacement items.
Replace plugs when leakage
Inspect for leakage.
Core Hole Expansion Plugs.

Machine Tooled Parts.  Inspect for cracks, breaks, elongated holes, wear and
chips.  Replace any damaged parts.

Machined Surfaces.  Inspect for cracks, evidence of wear, galled or pitted
surface, burrs, nicks, and scratches.

Mated Surfaces.  Inspect for remains of old gasket, seal, secure fit, pitting
and evidence of leakage.

Rusted Surfaces.
Inspect for pitting, holes and severe damage.
o.
Oil Bathed Internal Parts.
Inspect for cracks, nicks, burrs, evidence of
overheating and wear.
