Solenoid and Starting Motor Operate;
Engine Cranks Slowly - Continued.
Touch terminal connections one at a time; never touch both
terminals at once. Be sure not to be grounded to the
machine when checking. Failure to do so may cause serious
personal injury or death.
b. Feel  battery
terminal
If battery terminal(s) are hot,
connections.
clean corroded connection(s)
and tighten all loose connections
at batteries, ground and starter.
2.
Test specific gravity for
each battery. Go to Table 6,
Malfunction 1 and perform
Test 1.
3.
Test starting motor voltage.
a. Set
to
appropriate voltage range.
b. Connect meter positive
lead to positive terminal
on starting motor and
negative meter lead to
chassis ground.
