GENERAL An   automatic   transmission   with   internal   problems   most   likely   would   have   to   be repaired   in   a   maintenance   shop. Holes   and   cracks   in   the   housing   and   linkage problems   can   be   repaired   in   the   field   in   an   expedient   manner.   Fluid   loss   due   to holes   and   cracks   and   linkage   damage   are   the   most   frequent   external   causes   of automatic   transmission   malfunctions. 9-6.      ASSESSMENT  CHART a.
