TM 5-2420-222-34 3-2. ENGINE ASSEMBLY VACUUM TEST. This Task Covers: Test Initial Setup: Tools/Test Equipment: References: General mechanic's tool kit TM5-2420-222-10 U-tube manometer TM5-2420-222-20 Personnel Required:    Two TEST 1. Remove air cleaner restriction indicator (1) from air cleaner (2) (see TM 5-2420-222-20). 2. Using a suitable tee, connect U-tube manometer and air cleaner restriction indicator (1) to air cleaner (2). WARNING Be careful of moving parts when working near engine while it is running. Moving   parts   could   catch   on   tools,   clothing,   or   extremities   causing serious injury to personnel. 3. Start engine assembly and run at low idle (see TM5-2420-222-10). 4. Record U-tube manometer and air cleaner restriction indicator (1) readings.  Normal vacuum is 3.5 in. (8.89 cm) of water.  A reading of 11 in. (27.94 cm) or more of water indicates a dirty air cleaner element or other restriction. TA701220 3-5
