TM 5-2420-222-34 7-1. ENGINE AC GENERATOR REPAIR (Con’t). WARNING Compressed  air  used  for  cleaning  or  drying  purposes,  or  for  clearing  restrictions should  never  exceed  30  psi  (207  kPa).    Wear  protective  clothing  (goggles/shield, gloves, etc.) and use caution to avoid injury to personnel. 3. Using fine abrasive paper, clean two slip rings    (28  and 29)    on    rotor    (15).        Remove    loose    particles    with compressed air. 4. Inspect   all   metal   parts   for   cracks,   breaks,   abnormal bends, and burrs.  Replace all defective parts. 5. Inspect all threaded parts for damaged threads. Replace all damaged parts. 6. Measure length of exposed brushes (31 and 32) of brush assembly (3).  Exposed length must be y  in.  (6.35  mm) or more. 7. Using multimeter, check terminal (30) and brush (32) for open circuit.  No open circuit is allowed. 8. Using multimeter, check housing (33) and brush (31) for open circuit.  No open circuit is allowed. 9. Using multimeter, check for improper grounding between housing (33) and terminal (30).  No continuity Is allowed. TA701336 7-6
