CLEANING AND INSPECTION WARNING Dry  cleaning  solvent,  P-D-680,  is  toxic  and  flammable.    Always  wear  protective goggles  and  gloves,  and  use  only  In  a  well-ventilated  area.    Avoid  contact  with skin, eyes, and clothes, and DO NOT breathe vapors.  DO NOT use near open flame or  excessive  heat.  The  solvent's  flash  point  is  100°F-138°F  (38°C-590C).    If  you become dizzy while using cleaning solvent, Immediately get fresh air and medical help.  If solvent contacts eyes, immediately wash your eyes and get medical aid. 1. Clean  access  covers  and  timing  gear  cover  with  dry  cleaning  solvent  and  rags.    Dry  thoroughly  with  clean,  dry rags. 2. Inspect access covers and timing gear cover for cracks, breaks, abnormal bends, or damaged threads.  Replace defective parts. 3. Restore damaged threads using screw threading set. d. ASSEMBLY CAUTION When Installing seal, do not press against timing gear cover with excessive force. Timing gear cover Is made of aluminum and excessive force may damage it. 1. Support seal bore area of timing gear cover (11) with wood blocks. 2. Coat outside edge of new seal (23) with sealing compound.  Position seal in seal bore of timing gear cover (11) with spring-loaded lip facing rearward. 3. Using remover and installer and hammer, tap seal (23) in place in timing gear cover (11). 4. Position access cover (13) and new gasket (22) in place on timing gear cover (11).  Install three screws (20) and new lockwashers (21) in access cover and timing gear cover. 5. Position access cover (17) and new gasket (16) in place on timing gear cover (11).  Install two screws (19) and new lockwashers (18) in access cover and timing gear cover. 3-106
