TM 5-2420-222-34 3-18. TIMING GEAR COVER MAINTENANCE (Con’t). a. REMOVAL NOTE Note length and location of screws during removal to ensure proper Installation. 1. Remove  six  screws  (9)  and  lockwashers  (8)  from  engine  oil  pan  (10)  and  timing  gear  cover  (11).    Discard lockwashers. 2. Remove   two   screws   (4)   and   lockwashers   (7)   from   timing   gear   cover   (11)   and   engine   block   (1).      Discard lockwashers. NOTE Timing   gear   covers   with   large   access   covers   have   one   longer   screw   through access  cover  and  nine  shorter  screws  securing  timing  gear  cover.    Timing  gear covers   without   large   access   covers   are   secured   with   ten   screws   of   the   same length. 3. Remove  ten  screws  (3)  with  lockwashers  (2),  or  nine  screws  (3)  with  lockwashers  (2),  and  screw  (5)  with lockwasher  (6)  from  timing  gear  cover  (11),  cylinder  block  plate  (12),  engine  block  (1),  and  access  cover  (13.
