Abrasive cloth (Item 6, Appendix B) Cylinder head removed (see paragraph 3-6). Carbon removing compound (Item 8, Appendix B) Engine oil pan removed (see paragraph 3-20). Engine oil (Item 25, Appendix B) Rags (Item 28, Appendix B) Tools/Test Equipment: Dry cleaning solvent (Item 31, Appendix B) General mechanic's tool kit Marker tags (Item 32, Appendix B) Field automotive shop set Nonelectrical wire (Item 44, Appendix B) Ring groove wear gage Piston ring set Two screws, ½ X ¾ in. long Personnel Required:    Two Two washers General Safety Instructions: Dry cleaning solvent is flammable and must not be used near open flame.  Use only in a well-ventilated area. Compressed air used for cleaning purposes should never exceed 30 psi (207 kPa). NOTE All four pistons and connecting rods are maintained the same way.  One is shown. Repeat procedure for other pistons and connecting rods. 3-67
