WARNING
Be careful of moving parts when working near engine while it is running. Moving parts could catch on tools, clothing, or
extremities causing serious injury.
9. Arm (1)
Lever (2)
a. Push forward all the way.
b. Have assistant note engine speed
on tachometer (3).
Engine speed should be 800 to
825 rpm.
NOTE
If engine speed is correct, skip steps 10 thru 12.
10. Cover (4) and

Using two 5/16-inch open-end wrenches,
low idle adjustment
loosen.

a. If engine speed noted in step 9 was

less than 800 rpm, using 5/16-inch
open-end wrench, turn clockwise.
b. If engine speed noted in step 9 was
more than 825 rpm, using 5/16-inch
open-end wrench, turn counter-
clockwise.
12. Cover (4) and

a. Using two 5/16-inch open-end
low idle adjustment
wrenches, tighten.

13. Loader backhoe
Engine
Shut down (TM 5-2420-222-10).
14. Lever (2)
Speed control
Place in position.

Place in position.
(7) and lever (2)
16. Speed control rod
New cotter pin (9)
a. Place in position.
(7) and washer (8)
b. Using long roundnose pliers, bend ends
back.
