STEERING CLUTCH MAINTENANCE - CONTINUED

WARNING
Use extreme caution when handling heavy parts. Provide adequate support and use assistance during pro-
cedure. Ensure that any lifting device used is in good condition and of suitable load capacity. Keep clear of
heavy parts supported only by lifting device. Failure to follow this warning may result in death or injury to
personnel.
1.
Use a nylon sling and suitable lifting device to position steering clutch (13) on bench with capscrew side up.
2.
Remove lifting equipment and brake band (10) from steering clutch (13).
3.
Install two lifting links with 1/2-13 x 1-1/2 in. bolts in outer drum (17) 180 apart.
NOTE
Outer drum weighs 110 lb (50 kg).
4.
Use nylon sling and suitable lifting device to remove

outer drum (17) from steering clutch (13).

5.
Use lifting equipment to position steering clutch (13) on hydraulic arbor press (A) over round block (B) with capscrew
side of clutch facing up.
6.
Position round block (B) on top pressure plate (18) inside circle of capscrews (19). Apply pressure to plate (18) with
press to take pressure off capscrews (19).
7.
Flatten four locks (20).
8.
Remove eight capscrews (19), washers (21) and four locks (20).
9.
Release pressure on plate (18) and remove round block (B).
